Origin:
From the old english word sum, meaning "some" or "a certain amount" and the word swa, meaning "so" or "in such a way".
Examples:
- The weather was somewhat cold, but not unbearable.

- She was somewhat surprised by the news of the sudden change in plans.
- The store was somewhat crowded, but not as bad as it usually is.
