Spheroidal (adjective)

1. Shaped like a spheroid; having the form of a sphere-like object.
2. Resembling a spheroid; having a curved surface.

Origin:

Late 17th century: from french sphéroïdal, from sphéroïde (see spheroid).

Examples:

1. Spheroidal planets have a slightly flattened shape at the poles and bulge at the equator.
2. The spheroidal structure of the satellite dish helps to focus the incoming signals.
3. Some spheroidal stars are rotating so rapidly that they flatten at the poles.
4. Spheroidal particles have a high aspect ratio and are therefore difficult to measure.
5. The spheroidal shape of the water droplet improved its aerodynamics while falling.
