Splice (verb)

  1. To join two or more pieces of rope or wire together by intertwining the ends.
  2. To join two or more pieces of film or video together by cutting and then joining the ends.
  3. To join or connect two or more things together.

Origin:

From the old english word "splīcian" which means "to join" or "to connect".
