Strikeout (noun)

An action in baseball in which a batter is declared out by the umpire as a result of three strikes, a strikeout also refer to an act of striking out text or graphics.

Origin:

A combination of the word "strike" meaning to hit or hit out and "out" meaning a state of being out, it first recorded use of the word in this form is in 1855.
