To make a long, high-pitched wailing sound, typically as an expression of strong emotion.
Origin:
Mid 17th century: from latin ululat- "howled", from the verb ululare, of imitative origin.
Examples:
- The mourners ululated as the body was carried away.
- The crowd ululated in excitement as the team scored the winning goal.
- The wolves ululated in the night.
