Origin:
Late 16th century; formed from the prefix un- and the verb "refine".
Examples:
- The unrefined oil was not yet fit for use.
- The unrefined diamond was worth less than a polished one.
- The unrefined sugar had a coarser texture.
- The unrefined metal had impurities that needed to be removed.
- The unrefined performance was raw and lacked finesse.
