Not saved; not having received salvation or deliverance from sin and its consequences.
Origin:
Mid 19th century; earliest use found in the christian observer. from un- + saved.
Examples:
- The unsaved soul is in danger of being lost forever, unless it repents and turns to God.
- The unsaved nation was plagued by poverty, famine, and disease, as it turned its back on the ways of God.
- The unsaved man may try to find peace in worldly pleasures, but in the end he will only find emptiness.
- The unsaved heart is a heart that is not receptive to the saving grace of God.
- The unsaved woman realized too late that her life of sin had brought her nothing but misery and regret.
