Wafer

A thin disk of some material, such as semiconductor, used in electronic devices.
Origin:
Old english wæfer, of germanic origin; related to dutch wafel and german waffel, from a base meaning "weave", because of the pattern on the surface.
Examples:
- The computer chip was made out of silicon wafer.
- The wafer was sliced into thin layers to make the solar cell.
- The wafer was carefully cleaned before the process of doping.
- The wafer had to be handled with care to avoid any damage.
- The new wafer technology was expected to revolutionize the industry.
