Wheezy

Having difficulty breathing, especially with a whistling or rattling sound in the chest.
Origin:
Mid 16th century: probably imitative of the sound of breathlessness.
Examples:
- The old man was wheezy and had to stop and rest often while walking.
- The child's wheezy breathing was a sign of asthma.
- The patient's wheezy breathing improved after using the inhaler.
- The room was filled with the wheezy sound of the man's breathing.
- The wheezy sound was caused by the bronchitis.
