Whence (adverb)

1. From where, from what source or origin.
2. From what place, direction, or position.

Origin:

The word "whence" comes from the old english word "hwanon" which is a compound word made up of "hwæt" (what) and "ænon" (from where). it entered the english language in the 14th century. .

Examples:

1. I wonder whence this sudden change of heart came from.
2. He asked the stranger whence he came, but the stranger only smiled enigmatically.
3. The company's success is due to the hard work and dedication of its employees, but whence the inspiration came is a mystery.
