Windshield (noun)

A sheet of glass or other transparent material that protects the driver and passengers of a vehicle from wind and weather.

Origin:

Early 20th century, from wind + shield.

Examples:

1. He had to clean the windshield before he could drive.
2. The wind blew hard against the windshield as the car drove down the highway.
3. She opened the window to clean the inside of the windshield.
