Cheerio (interjection)

Used to express good wishes when parting or at the end of a letter.

The origin of the word "cheerio" is uncertain. it may have been derived from the latin word "carus" meaning dear, or from the french word "chéri" meaning darling. it is first recorded in english in the late 19th century.
