Cremate (verb)

To reduce to ashes by means of intense heat, as in a crematory.

Origin:

Late latin crematus, past participle of cremare to burn, from latin, to burn up, from cremare to burn.

Examples:

1. He decided to cremate his mother's body.
2. The family choose to cremate the body rather than bury it.
3. The body will be cremated and the ashes will be scattered.
4. He wanted to be cremated and have his ashes spread at sea.
5. The ashes are all that remain after the body was cremated.
