Cylinder (noun)

A solid or hollow geometric figure with two parallel bases circular in shape, whose surface is generated by straight lines connecting the circumference of the bases.

Origin:

Late 16th century: via latin from greek kulindros "rolling pin, cylinder", from kulindein "to roll".
