1. Remove toxins from (the body).
2. To make something free from toxins or harmful substances.

Origin:

Early 20th century: from de- "remove" + toxin + -fy.

Examples:

2. She went on a juice cleanse to detoxify her body.
3. The water was detoxified before it was safe to drink.
4. The soil was detoxified before planting the crops.
5. The air in the room was detoxified by the air purifier.
