Diskette (noun)

  1. A small, flat, usually square or rectangular plastic disk with a magnetic surface, used for storing computer data.
  2. A type of removable storage media that has been largely replaced by other forms of storage such as USB drives, CD-ROMs and cloud storage.

Origin:

From disk ("a flat circular piece of metal, plastic, etc., used for storing information") + -ette (a diminutive suffix).
