Goiter

- An abnormal enlargement of the thyroid gland in the neck, which may or may not be accompanied by an overproduction of thyroid hormones.
- A visible swelling of the thyroid gland in the front of the neck caused by an enlarged thyroid gland.

Mid 16th century: from french goitre, from latin guttura "throat".
