High-five
(verb)
- To slap the palm of one's hand against that of another person as a sign of agreement or congratulations.
- To acknowledge or celebrate something by slapping the palm of one's hand against that of another person.
Origin:
1970s: high five, apparently a humorous alteration of "give me five", i.e. "slap me five" (referring to the five fingers of the hand).
Examples:
- They high-fived each other after finishing the project.
- He high-fived her after she passed her driving test.
- The team high-fived each other after winning the game.
- They high-fived to celebrate their success.
- The two friends high-fived in congratulations.
