Monounsaturated

Having one double or triple bond in the molecule and therefore not saturated with hydrogen atoms.
Origin:
From the greek monos, meaning "single" and unsaturated, meaning not containing the maximum amount of hydrogen.
Examples:
- Monounsaturated fats are considered to be healthy fats.
- Extra-virgin olive oil is high in monounsaturated fatty acids.
- The monounsaturated fats are liquid at room temperature.
- Monounsaturated fats are found in avocados and nuts.
- Monounsaturated fats have been shown to lower cholesterol levels.
