Munchkin (noun)

A small or diminutive person or child, often used to describe children with a particularly cute or endearing appearance.

Origin:

Derived from the yiddish word "munchkin" meaning a small child, it was popularized by the 1939 fantasy novel the wizard of oz by l. frank baum, where it referred to the small people who lived in the land of oz.
