A reflexive pronoun used to refer to the speaker or writer as the object of a verb or preposition, when this is the same person as the subject of the clause.
Origin:
From old english ān 'one' + self 'self'.
Examples:
- One should always be true to oneself, no matter the circumstances.
- After a long day of work, one should take some time to relax and enjoy oneself.
