Tailgater

A person who drives close behind another vehicle, especially in an aggressive or dangerous manner.
Origin:
1970s, from tailgate + -er.
Examples:
- The tailgater was driving so close to the car in front of him that it was difficult to see his license plate.
- The tailgater was honking and flashing his lights, trying to get the car in front of him to move faster.
- The tailgater was a reckless driver, who seemed to take pleasure in intimidating others on the road.
- The tailgater was causing a dangerous situation, as he was making it difficult for other drivers to react to sudden stops or turns.
- The tailgater was eventually pulled over by the police, who gave him a citation for following too closely.
